The Busch Gardens Williamsburg Leadership Intern Program provides students with the opportunity to gain hands-on working experience and develop their leadership skills, all while working at The World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park!

Program dates are flexible and can be adjusted based on your school's academic calendar. Full-time availability is preferred, but part-time availability will also be considered. Academic credit can be received.

Position Details

As a Merchandise Leadership Intern, you'll take on a supervisory role in one of our 11 store groups around the park and lead your team through Howl-O-Scream and Christmas Town, our premier special events. In addition to assisting with daily store operations and tasks, you will gain leadership experience as you:

  • Set daily sales goals and coach team members that are not meeting expectations
  • Manage in-store promotions and price changes for all assigned locations
  • Manage inventory levels by completing daily stocking tasks; placing all warehouse orders nightly, and manage damage levels of product
  • Ensure all standard operating procedures are followed including cash handling, inventory management, and loss prevention procedures
  • Manage labor budgets by conducting “real-time” schedule edits
  • Ensure team member safety
  • Complete all other assigned tasks and duties as directed by department leadership

Interns in this position can work up to 40 hours/week on average


  • Applicants must be able to stand for long periods of time and work in various weather conditions.
  • Previous Retail or Sales experience preferred.
  • All majors are encouraged to apply!


  • Housing is available for non-local interns.
