SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Scream 2022
Dates: September 16th – October 31st
Every Evening, Thursdays through Sundays
In addition to the three (3) Haunted Houses from 2021 (Nightmare Experiment, Death Water Bayou, and Simon’s Slaughterhouse) we will be adding TWO (2) NEW HAUNTED HOUSES to the 2022 Event! Come join our team and help bring this ever-growing experience to life!
As a division of the Entertainment Department, the Creative and Theming Services division Is comprised of graphic designers, sign fabricators, and scenic craftspersons who provide for the facilitation, installation, and maintenance of the visual and aesthetic components at SeaWorld San Diego and Sesame Place San Diego. What you get to do:
Under the guidance of the Manager, Entertainment Workshops:
•Support the Halloween and Christmas themed celebrations at both parks and assist with any entertainment projects related to signage, scenic, props, special effects, and other theming elements.
•Assist with the fabrication, preparation, and installation of seasonal signage, scenic, and theming elements for Entertainment events, shows, performances, and operations.
•Support the operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of park-wide theming and special events elements, including but not limited to sets, props, décor, signage, painting, scenery, fog machines, and other theatre and entertainment components.
•Perform daily venue specific maintenance, operation, start-up and shut-down procedures, as assigned.
•Perform warehouse prep and maintenance and other behind the scenes duties for entertainment shows and events.
•Communicate with fellow ambassadors to share necessary schedule changes, show changes, and other details pertaining to daily operational duties.
•Enthusiastically represent SeaWorld by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
What it takes to succeed:
•At least 18 years of age.
•Basic knowledge of computer-based resources such as Microsoft Office Suite.
•This position can be labor-intensive and requires physical capable of performing the following activities: work at heights, lift and carry 100 lbs. or more, bend, kneel, squat, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools, keyboard, writing), and walk and stand for long periods of time.
•Able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather and conditions.
•Comfortable working around water, animals, horror-themed actors and décor, special effects, strobe lights, fog machines, power tools, and shop equipment.
•Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, stimulating environment while maintaining a positive attitude and excellent guest service.
•Ability to successfully complete safety training and maintain a safe working environment.
•Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, early mornings, late evenings, and holidays now through November 16 and possibly up to January 18.
•Seasonal positions may work up to 40 hours per week.
•Ambassadors hired specifically for Howl-O-Scream theming support roles must be available to work Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, as early as 4:00 pm and as late as 1:00 am.
•Experience in theme parks, live entertainment, theatre, technical theatre, haunted houses and mazes, Christmas festivities, or a similar field/industry.
•Knowledge of scenic paint techniques and the ability to paint a set or prop from an approved design.
•Knowledge of mold making, sculpting, carpentry, advanced tools, paint applications, specialty coatings (sanders, fiberglass resins, foam coat, airless sprayers, and compressors).
•Experience or have equivalent work experience operating and maintaining multiple venues simultaneously throughout a seasonal atmosphere.
•Previous experience or training in fall protection, forklift operation, manlift operation, rigging, power tools, routers, and other shop equipment.
