Requirements and Competencies

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must have at least one (1) year of entertainment based technical maintenance experience
• Must have a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a company driver’s license
• Must have the ability to obtain an SEA fork lift and/or personnel lift certificate
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to identify industry terminology for a theatrical performance venues
• Must be able to operate a variety of entertainment / theatrical equipment
• Must be comfortable working in/around water
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to climb a ladder and work at heights ranging from 6’ to 65’
• Must be able to lift, push and pull 50 pounds
• Must be available to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours; i.e. be able to work opening and closing shifts, including weekends and holidays

Desired Qualifications

• Completion of two years technical trade school, military or equivalent experience with an emphasis on electronics or completion of an accredited college or university program with emphasis in technical theater equipment repair and maintenance
• Three years of practical electronics, technical theater or touring experience
• Expertise and specialization in any or all of the following fields of technical entertainment: Audio, Video, Theatrical Lighting, Stage Rigging or Stage Mechanics
• Ability to cross train and be utilized in any of the above fields
• Have a basic understanding of the following disciplines; theater maintenance, electrical theory, entertainment mechanics (fountain pumps, motors, VFDs, pneumatics and hydraulics)
• Proficient in soldering of circuit boards to repair equipment and creation of control cables (DMX, SMPTE, etc)
• Able to understand an electronic schematic and converse with outside vendors
• Strong understanding of signal flow for analog and digital control; including DMX, intercom and Ethernet. Understanding of network protocols, fiber optic transmission systems and Entertainment standards preferred
• Strong grasp of the principles and laws of Electricity with documented instructional courses
• Familiar with operation and repair of current products from ETC, High End, Martin, Vari-Lite, Green Hippo, Lemaitre, Snow Masters, Medialon and Clear-Com. Certification from aforementioned companies preferred
• A working knowledge of pump repair
• S.C.U.B.A certification
• Small watercraft driving experience is preferred

Primary Responsibilities

• Open and close all venues, respond to trouble calls, and troubleshoot a variety of theatrical systems
• Interpret a Theatrical lighting plot
• Operate a variety of lighting equipment (this may include followspots, automated lighting, scrollers, fog machines, etc.)
• Perform basic electrical job functions (calculate amperage, voltage, wattage, voltage drop, select proper cable size, etc.)
• Hang, clean, focus and perform preventative maintenance on Theatrical lighting (conventional and intelligent) fixtures
• Maintain an organized, safe and clean work environment at all times
• Produce and maintain accurate documentation
• Make short-term and permanent repairs to a variety of Theatrical equipment (including Theatrical lighting, venue re-gel, resetting systems, assisting with opening and closing park venues)
• Assist with all other disciplines within Theatrical Services as required
