Pest Control Specialist

What it takes to succeed

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Be able to obtain a non-commercial license through the SPCS within first 90 days of employment. Prior professional experience preferred
  • Be able to maintain a valid pest control license to apply applications
  • Have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a SEA driver’s license
  • Have excellent verbal and written skills in the English Language
  • Have basic math skills
  • Be able to lift, push, or pull a minimum of 75 pounds
  • Be comfortable working with insects/reptiles/rodents
  • Be able to complete tasks assigned within time constraints implied by park guidelines
  • Be able to work independently and have flexibility to work successfully in a team environment when needed
  • Provide excellent service to guests and ambassadors
  • Be able to stand, walk, and work for prolonged periods of time in extreme weather conditions.
  • Be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Consistently practices safe work habits including, but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment, lifting and reporting of unsafe situations
  • Be willing to comply with all SEA grooming guidelines and employment standards
  • Be able to successfully complete all legal, company and department training requirements to include but not limited to passing required tests and certifications within established timelines

What you get to do:

  • Maintains documentation and inventory of chemicals utilized
  • Utilizes both restricted-use and non-restricted use pesticides daily
  • Performs weed treatments and ornamental control
  • Performs rodent control (i.e. restaurant inspections, back of park, perimeter/fence line)
  • Performs insect treatments as needed
  • Monitors and traps nuisance vertebrate pests
  • Perform building inspections and exclusion work when needed
  • Maintains organization of assigned area including but not limited to cleanliness and proper chemical storage
  • Consistently maintains pesticide application equipment
  • Assists Horticulture department as needed
  • Responds to pest control calls with exceptional guest service
  • Coordinates treatments with various departments
  • Performs other duties as assigned
